Getting Started Stringing Beads – Book Review
Getting Started Stringing Beads by Jean Campbell is a book that you should get if you are venturing out in to the world of beading. An ideal book more for beginners rather than those more experienced in bead stringing.
Jean covers just about everything in this book from shopping for beads, the basics of bead stringing such as crimping, knotting and wirework. The book then moves onto designs and ideas.
This book has 83 pages and has plenty step by step instructions with clear photographs and illustrations. You will get the hang of stringing in no time and will be a book where you will come back to time and time again thanks to the basics section and of course the tips section towards the end of the book.
Chapter 4 covers focal beads and also gives you ideas on how to turn your focal bead into a pendant. It also provides five ideas for stringing your focal beads using leather cord and beading wire.
Earrings are in chapter 5. From drops, hoop and chandeliers; earrings are nice and easy and a great starting point for beaders.
Some Design Ideas is the title of chapter 6 and includes:
- Stretch Bracelets
- Multi Strand Bracelet
- Neclaces
- Choker
The last chapter in the book is a tips section. This is a handy section with help on setting up to bead, working on your stringing designs, wire working and looking after your creations.
All in all, a nice and easy to follow book for all beginners to beading.
